Powerlifting

The roots of powerlifting are in traditions of strength training stretching back as far as Greek and Roman times. The modern sport originated in the USA and the UK in the 1950s.

Powerlifters practice weight training to improve performance in the three competitive lifts—the squat, bench press and deadlift.

Powerlifting is an extraordinary sport where every athlete can compete. It is a true measure of one’s progress. There isn’t any wondering about whether or not you’ve improved. You either lift the weight or you don’t. It’s as simple as that.

People can excel at this sport simply because its fun and you NEVER lose. In powerlifting, if you set yourself to a specific goal and you achieve it, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, as long as you achieve your personal goal.

Tim and Monique began competing at powerlifting in 2014 and lived the sport. Both set state, national and world records in the various lifts and wanted to become more involved in the sport.

Tim became a USPA certified coach in October of 2014. This enabled CrossFit 6250′ to apply for and become a certified USPA strength training center.

We’re proud to be the ONLY certified strength and power lifting gym in the Tahoe basin!
